Spring in Chelsea

Created this image while walking in NYC on the way to cafe Grumpy in Chelsea.

I made a couple of smaller prints before I made a final print for my wall. I have no use for smaller prints and I would like to give them away.
They are printed on fine art matte paper and will last longer than you with a proper care. Prints look great.
Size of the prints is 9″x13″, they will need to be custom framed if you decide to do it.

PhaseOne Conference NYC

I went to PhaseOne Conference in NYC recently. There were presentations of IQ technology and plenty of hands-on time with cameras. I rarely photograph in studio settings so I asked models to pose mainly outside of studio’s shooting space under available light only. It was a tight space because of all the people around and tons of equipment but still results are great. I also had my Panasonic gh2 with me so I made some images to compare to.

I got this one all wrong. I moved a dial by accident and got 1/30 instead of 1/160. It came out somewhat blurry but because of huge 80mp file it looks fine when reduced to web resolution. When I opened this file in Camera Raw, I was about to throw it out because skin was completely blown out. But then I decided to see what I can recover and magic happened. About two stops of overexposure recovered without any problems at all and image looks just great! PhaseOne created some amazing technology for their digital backs. I wish I can justify $50k+ camera…

This was done on one of the hottest days in June. It was crazy hot and it was obvious we would not be able to walk far away from home. Light was great in late afternoon and as it turned out we did not have to go anywhere. We were able to do a session literally in one block radius from home and had several different settings.

Family Portraits in Old Bridge, NJ

We just moved into new home in Old Bridge. Previous owners were leaving to Florida. All their grandchildren are in Tri-state area. They wanted a big wall portrait of them together with grandchildren. Weather cooperated and we spent a couple hours in park with this wonderful family.

Downpour did not stop this brave family from posing for family portraits. It was one of the most fun photo sessions with wonderful and beautiful people! Interesting that rain started right after we met them and stopped at the moment we said goodbye an hour later. It was sunny by the time we got back from Central Park to Cafe Grumpy in Chelsea.
